CIO Dan Greteman Recognized by STEM

November 23, 2015

STEMconnector®, the one-stop for “who is doing what” in STEM education and careers, released its 100 CIO/CTO Leaders in STEM publication, and this year has chosen to highlight Farm Bureau Financial Services Chief Information Officer Dan Greteman. The book features senior corporate executives who share their insights on business and innovation from a technology and information perspective.

Edie Fraser, Chief Executive Officer of STEMconnector® shared “we are proud to highlight 100 Chief Information Officers and Chief Technology Officers and recognize their leadership and excellence. Technology is number one for business and jobs. The role of the CIO/CTO becomes critical to business and innovation. These role models are change leaders.  Special thanks to Lorena Fimbres, VP & Chief Business Development Officer, and team, for leading this series and contribute to STEMconnector®’s positioning at the forefront of STEM thought leadership.”

Each senior executive is profiled across a two-page spread, and their thought-provoking responses to questions about STEM education, workforce development, public-private partnerships, and diversity in STEM will influence the national conversations regarding these issues. Over one-quarter of the companies featured in the publication are listed in the Fortune 100 and over fifty percent are listed in the Fortune 500. Twenty-five of the honorees are women.

Farm Bureau Financial Services has an extensive history of partnering with organizations to foster a passion for technology. For example:

  • Our HyperStream partnership with IBM and a local middle school was recognized at the 2014 Prometheus Awards hosted by the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI).
  • We provide an on-site classroom for a local high school’s Advanced Professional Experience program. Fifteen juniors/seniors are participating in the financial services strand this year.
  • FBFS helps sponsor a special Tech Camp where FBFS employees volunteer and provide hands-on experiences for young at-risk learners.
  • FBFS employees serve on advisory boards and assist with curriculum design to ensure that real business needs continue to be addressed at the collegiate level.
