WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (January 26, 2016) — Farm Bureau Financial Services Chief Executive Officer James P. Brannen was named Chairman of The Greater Des Moines Partnership at the group’s annual dinner on January 25.
The Partnership represents 21 local chambers of commerce and has about 5,700 businesses as members, making it the largest business group in Central Iowa. As chair, Brannen will lead the group’s efforts to continue growing and improving the Central Iowa business climate, and will push to further improve the talent pipeline in the area.
At the event Monday, Brannen took time to acknowledge the organization’s role in the community, saying, “This is an extraordinary organization, and we are leading growth in an extraordinary community. It is humbling to follow the wonderful men and women who have served as chair of this board.”
Brannen was named CEO of FBL Financial Group, Inc. and its affiliated insurance companies which go to market as Farm Bureau Financial Services in 2012. Prior to that, he held numerous leadership positions in the company, including treasurer, chief administrative officer and CFO. Brannen is active in a number of civic and industry organizations, including serving on the board of directors of United Way of Central Iowa and as a member of the Greater Des Moines Committee. He also serves as a member of the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) Board of Governors and as president of the Federation of Iowa Insurers.
