Beyond A Salary: Helping Employees Build Their Financial Futures

If you’re job hunting, you know that you’re looking for a job that provides benefits beyond salary. The employee benefits package is an important part of any job offer consideration. And because your financial situation is the foundation upon which you build your dreams for the future, workplace financial wellness benefits should definitely be among the benefits you look for.

Of course, your salary is a big part of employee financial wellness. But at Farm Bureau Financial Services, we know why financial wellness is a must-have employee benefit, and we understand that there are so many other ways we can help you reach your dreams.

Our care for our employees goes deep. We understand that people do their best work when they are supported in all aspects of their lives. Our employees are not only given the tools they need to succeed at work, but also to handle the various challenges they may face in their personal lives.

If you’re thinking about your own financial wellness, reach out to Farm Bureau to talk about opportunities with us. And if you’re considering looking for a job where your financial wellness is taken into account, then read on to learn more about what we offer.

What Is Financial Wellness and Why Does it Matter?

What is financial wellness? Think about it this way — wellness is about managing your health so that you can live well now and as you age. Similarly, financial wellness means managing your money in a way that is best for you, both now and in the future. This involves many things, such as budgeting, managing expenses and saving for long-term goals.

Americans are stressed about their finances. In 2025, 28% of adults (and 34% of upper-income adults) said they expected the financial situation for them and their family to be worse a year from now — a 12% increase from a year earlier.

Meanwhile, less than half of Americans said they had emergency funds that would cover their expenses for three months if necessary. These numbers spell stress! And that stress can spill over and impact other facets of life, such as physical health, emotional well-being, intellectual pursuits and relationships.

At Farm Bureau, we understand that we can help alleviate financial stress in our employees’ lives. We provide a salary, of course — but we can help in ways that go beyond the salary, too.

We Provide A Strong Foundation

How do we help employees build and maintain financial wellness? It starts with a strong foundation. Employees at Farm Bureau Financial Services have access to valuable benefits that help improve their financial situation and protect their well-being, such as a company-provided flexible spending account (FSA) to help manage healthcare costs, a variety of insurance options to provide peace of mind and a 401(k) to save for their future. All of these measures are a great start.

Going Beyond the Basics

But we don’t stop there. Farm Bureau goes beyond offering employees financial resources, guidance and support.

All employees have access to online, on-demand financial wellness courses like “Long-Term Care”, “Social Security” and “Ten Minutes to Managing Personal Finances” to help them learn about concepts and develop strategies to improve their financial situation. They can also participate in wellness challenges that motivate them to take action toward their goals.

Our employees have access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides confidential support and resources on a broad range of topics, including financial matters. Employees can meet with a professional about matters like saving for college, dealing with debt, planning for retirement or creating an estate plan.

If an employee wants to dig deeper and work with a professional financial advisor to build a holistic financial plan, they can connect with a Farm Bureau Wealth Management Advisor (WMA).
