Look for these signs of quality insurance providers when you’re trying to find one that’s a good match for you.

When you reach out to get information, do you get a response to your email or a return phone call relatively quickly? If someone isn’t responsive when you’re asking for information, you can’t trust that you’ll get timely help when you have questions or need to file a claim.

2. Good Coverage

Having multiple insurance policies with the same insurance plan can be convenient and save you money. If you need homeowners or renters insurance, auto coverage, life insurance and more, you may want to work with one company that offers everything you need.

3. Financial Stability

You want a company that’s in good financial shape. If severe weather strikes your area and a lot of people have claims, you want a company that can afford to pay them. In the case of life insurance, you want a company that will be around in years or decades when it’s time for your policy to pay your benefits to your heirs.

4. Great Customer Care

The agent and company you work with should treat you with respect, not like you’re a chore they have to check off their list. When you have a conversation or an interaction with an agent, you should feel like you have their attention and you’re important to them.

5. Good Recommendations and Reviews

If your family members and friends have good things to say about an insurance company, it’s a good sign that you’ll be satisfied with their service, too. While online reviews aren’t as trustworthy — they could be written by competitors or generated by artificial intelligence — a lot of negative reviews could be a sign to avoid a company.

You can also see if people have filed complaints with your state insurance agency or the Better Business Bureau, and how those complaints were resolved.

6. The Services You Need

Maybe you want to pay your premium bill online or file a claim digitally. Or maybe you would like to go to an agent’s office, shake their hand and sit down across a desk from them. You might want a mix of the convenience of technology and the connection of personal contact. Make sure the agent and company do business in the ways you prefer.
