Farm Bureau Financial Services Donates Vehicles for Firefighter Training

April 23, 2014

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (April 23, 2014) — When the Preston, Iowa Volunteer Fire Department put out a call for the totaled vehicles they needed for the firefighter training and certification they conducted on April 19, Farm Bureau Financial Services agent, Brent Andresen, was quick to answer. He had reached out to the company’s Claims team and secured a commitment for three vehicles the fire department would use to practice automobile extrication techniques as they certified additional volunteers at the Firefighter II level.

“I’m really pleased Farm Bureau Financial Services was able to support this effort,” Andresen said.  “These volunteer firefighters give so much to protect the Preston community – I’m proud that I work with a company that’s just as focused on giving back to the communities it serves.”

Saturday’s training allowed the firefighters to practice extrication techniques using state-of-the-art hydraulic tools to pop doors, remove the roof, roll the dash to simulate passenger impingement, remove doors, remove seats and access the passenger compartment through the trunk.

According to Mark Rosazza, Material Damage Claims Manager for Farm Bureau Financial Services, the vehicles provided had all been involved in accidents and totaled. All were newer models so the firefighters could train on newer car technology and design. “Safety and service are our top priorities,” Rosazza said. “We’re happy we could help these firefighters with training that grows their skills and ensures the continued safety of the Preston community.”
