Be Well – Professional Wellness

Jun 1, 2018 1 min read

We celebrate Professional Wellness Month this June. We recognize that wellness extends beyond physical fitness. At Farm Bureau we offer ways for employees to live an overall healthier life, and we have programs that tackle a variety of factors throughout the year.

Intellectual

No matter your aspiration or curiosity, the Learning and Development team can help you grow. They provide classes to help employees develop in a variety of areas, like business writing, winning at customer service, and more. Additionally, we have a WINs group that offers a speaker series on a wide range of topics throughout the year. When you’re here, lunch and learn with us!

Social

Starting in July, when new employees start, they will be paired with an Ambassador. The Ambassador will introduce them not only to company policies and norms, they will provide introductions throughout the business. The ambassadors will help employees network and find their social niche with the company, and help them feel at home in their new position.

Physical

With wellness centers located in all our regional offices (complete with two dedicated wellness specialists) no one can question our commitment to promoting physical fitness. In addition to this, we also have two full-time nurses, as well as an onsite health clinic where doctors from the Iowa Clinic keep office hours, making it convenient for employees to maintain their physical wellness.

Financial

As an insurance and financial services company, we work hard to provide opportunities to employees to improve their own financial wellness. We offer educational opportunities to learn more about retirement and 401(k) savings. We also provide a suite of employee benefits that are both affordable, and help employees protect the financial well-being they are working hard to build.

Environmental

How many companies encourage their employees to get outside in the middle of the work day? We’re proud of our agricultural roots, so it seems natural that we provide space for a community garden in West Des Moines that employees tend throughout the summer. Not only does it provide stress relief for the gardeners, it also provides an avenue for philanthropy – we donated over 1500 pounds of produce to the Food Bank of Central Iowa in 2017.

In addition to the Giving Garden, the home office provides other avenues for employees to get out and appreciate nature. The home office in West Des Moines sits on 67 acres of lush landscapes with a walking trail weaving through the campus. Employees only need to walk out the door to be surrounded by nature.

From social to financial wellness and more, Farm Bureau Financial Services works to improve the professional wellness of our employees. Once you’re here, we want to help you develop professionally and personally, and help you strike the right work-life balance. We provide countless ways to get involved and give back. We want you to truly grow your career with us. Want to learn more? Check out our current openings, or join our Talent Network.
