How Farm Bureau Helps Protect Your Roof

Aug 17, 2026 2 min read

Your roof is your home’s first line of defense against weather, protecting everything underneath it from the elements. When a covered loss causes damage, understanding how your claim is covered can help you plan for the costs for repairs or replacement.

Farm Bureau offers roof coverage tools designed to help explain to homeowners how repairs or replacement of damaged property is covered with confidence.

What is a Roof Payment Schedule?

A roof payment schedule may be used to determine how much is paid following a covered wind or hail loss. If someone files a claim on their roof, it may be settled using a roof payment schedule, which is often a percentage of the cost to repair or replace the roof based on the age and material of the roof. It also depends on what is listed in the policy.

Farm Bureau's roof payment schedule provides a more competitive percentage than others in the marketplace. Additionally, roofs (excluding wood roofs) with replacement cost coverage that are 15 years old or newer may receive the full replacement cost for the damage, up to the policy limits, after repairs or replacement are complete.

Repairing or replacing a roof can be a significant expense, which is why understanding how your roof is covered before a loss occurs is important.

Benefits for Loyal Client/Members

Eligible homeowners who have maintained property coverage with Farm Bureau for 10 years or more may qualify for replacement cost benefits following a covered wind or hail loss, regardless of the roof's age.¹

Instead of factoring in depreciation in the final loss settlement, this benefit may cover the cost to repair or replace the roof with comparable materials following a covered wind or hail loss after repairs or replacement are complete, giving eligible client/members added peace of mind when severe weather strikes.

It's one way Farm Bureau rewards long-term client/member relationships through additional coverage benefits for eligible homeowners.

What Happens After a Covered Loss?

Payment for roof damage is based on your coverage and the details of the loss. Depending on the extent of the damage, a covered loss may require repairs to a portion of the roof or replacement of the entire roof.

How your claim is settled may depend on factors such as the age of your roof, the roof material, the cause of the loss, and the coverage included in your policy. Regardless of how a covered claim is settled, you will still be responsible for your policy deductible. Understanding how your claim would likely be paid before damage occurs can help set expectations should you ever need to file a claim
